ATI Announces Operating Management Changes
 

ATI announced several executive organizational changes in October 2008 that are designed to simplify and streamline the reporting relationships and leadership of ATI’s key manufacturing operations.

Lynn D. Davis, previously Business Unit President of ATI Wah Chang was given expanded responsibilities and named to the newly created position of Group President, ATI Primary Metals and Exotic Alloys. In his new capacity, the following operations will report to Mr. Davis:

  • ATI Wah Chang,
  • ATI’s Albany, Oregon Titanium Operations,
  • ATI’s Richland, Washington Electron Beam Titanium Operations, and
  • ATI’s Rowley, Utah Premium Titanium Sponge Operation...

ATI Wah Chang Welcomes New President John Sims
 

John Sims, long time employee of ATI, brings with him a rich history of experience and a deep pool of knowledge that will be a valuable asset for ATI Wah Chang.

Sims joined ATI in 1996 as a Product Metallurgist at ATI Allvac’s Bar & Rod Mill in Richburg, South Carolina. He advanced through a variety of technical and operational assignments at Richburg becoming Plant Manager in 1998. In 1999, he became General Manager of the $200 million Bar, Rod & Coil Strategic Business Unit with commercial, technical and manufacturing responsibility of ATI Allvac’s U.S. product lines...

The Corrosion Lab at ATI Wah Chang has a long history of supporting the Chemical Processing Industry (CPI). Today the CPI industry is experiencing a surge of global growth; in support of this growth, ATI Wah Chang has upgraded the lab’s capabilities and increased its capacity.

The Corrosion Lab has many functions including: basic corrosion research, customer material selection and failure analysis support, metallurgical testing for outside customers, the development and maintenance of an extensive research database, and analysis of ATI Wah Chang products during the final certification process...

In 2008, ATI Wah Chang’s Technical Services Department had the pleasure of hosting Corrosion Solutions® Seminars and Titanium & Zirconium Welding Seminars at locations in Texas, Louisiana, China, India and our production facility in Albany, Oregon. Over 135 industry participants from ExxonMobil, LyondellBasell, Babcock & Wilcox, Freeport-McMoRan, and many others attended.
